Enchanted Devious Devices

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

17000-ish, 26,000ish give or take a few hundred, Devious Devices imbued with vanilla enchantments for your deliberation.

 

 

What does this mod do?
The aim of this mod is simple. Instead of being punished with or forced into devices the player will be tempted to equip devices on themselves voluntarily. Ever felt you needed more incentive to equip devices?

 

How about cuffs/collars with health/magicka/stamina buffs? That wouldn't be so bad...
Slave boots of Nullification? Why try to dodge when you can just absorb magic...
Plugs of Peerless Sure Grip? Hmm, you'll need a harness or belt to hold them in and magic will be more or less impossible but maybe you're not a robe wearing milk drinker.

 

These questions and more await your careful consideration.

 

New Features in 0.2:

  • MCM added
  • Configurable: Drop amount, drop chance, enchantment quality & Item filters - Leveled lists constructed by script.
  • Scaling enchantment magnitude based on how many devices are worn and/or arousal level - All configurable. Arousal scaling is disabled by default.
  • Added missing devices and enchantments
  • First attempt to re-balance devices. Enchantment value & magnitudes reduced considerably by default.
  • Configurable enchantment magnitude.

SKSE is now required
Please don't use on saves you care about. There's still some quirkiness to work out.

 

 

Scaling:
Enchantment scaling is a little experimental. To get it to work:

  • Equip EDDs in inventory.
  • Once your happy exit the menu and buffs are recalculated.
  • Due to the way enchantments and magic effects work in skyrim any enchantment that increases/decreases will need to have the device re-equipped. There doesn't seem to be any way to refresh active magic effects for enchantments. You can dispel them but not add them.
  • Only devices that need to be updated are removed/replaced.
  • The first time you pick up an enchanted EDD the magnitude displayed is the max BASE magnitude - This is the max magnitude you can achieve by equipping DDs and arousal depending on their weights in the MCM. Note that this is before the 'Magnitude Multiplier' is applied.
  • DDs don't need to be enchanted to count towards increasing enchantment power of other worn EDDs..... ;)
  • Arousal scaling is disabled by default (=0). All weights must add up to 100%. To enable arousal scaling you must first reduce the "Base weight" (default 20%) and "Device weight" (default 80%)

 

 

Known Issues in 0.20:
Scaling - Some discrepancy of magnitude while wearing a lot of DDs. I haven't cornered this bug yet. If it really bothers you, 'poke' all your DDs and it should refresh. By poke I mean activate them and select 'carry on'. The difference is minor and will correct itself when devices are unequipped.
Timing issue with belt/plugs. If papyrus is overburdened the plugs make 'slide out' before the belt is reapplied.
Small bug in the MCM Enchantment power weight sliders. To increase arousal weight from it's default 0 you'll need to decrease Device weight first. At the moment it's up to you to make sure all weights add up to 100% for calculation purposes.
Need to add a combat exclusion for update events.

 

Notes:

  • Items are dropped in Ornate chests, chests, sacks, barrels & wardrobes - Configurable via MCM
  • The leveled lists are unleveled. Meaning you can possibly find a peerless quality enchantment at level 1. You can configure the chance of finding a peerless level enchantment via the MCM.
  • There are no keys added by this mod so they'll need to come from another mod.
  • DCLs "Free Me" should work on EDDs.
  • EDDs included are from DDi & DDx.
  • Some items from DDi, DDx are excluded: Unlocked slave boots - since there's no downside. Unlocked slave harnesses for the same reason. Armbinders for two reasons. A) Who in their right mind would use one and B) More importantly you can manipulate the locks => no downside. Iron yokes are included as they are slightly different. I'm not sure why you would but hey, that's your choice to make. Cuff and plug sets are also excluded.
  • Please feel free to make comments, give feedback and bug reports.

 

 

As a counter balance to Enchanted DDs I recommend:
Deviously Cursed Loot - So you've found some nice, low-consequence, enchanted DDs - ie. cuffs, collars, piercings. You've now filled the slots DCL could use during an event meaning the likelihood of far more serious DDs being equipped during an event is increased dramatically - eg. Blindfolds, armbinders/yokes/gags.

 

Deviously Enslaved Continued - You must be careful to balance your need for power to DECs will to enslave you. Hide what devices you can under clothes and always travel armed.

 

WARNING: This is my first mod to release publicly. Back up your saves! That said it should be fairly stable. There are 2 additional scripts. No continuous updates, only event based.

Installation:

  • Install as normal
  • Sort your load order
  • Build a bashed patch

Right now I'm adding the leveled lists directly to the base containers. So a bashed patch and/or a TesEdit Merged patch (NOT a merged mod) is very likely required so that the containers contents are not overwritten by another mod or this mod entirely. I'm sure there's a more elegant solution but a patch is something you should be doing anyway. There are some very good videos on youtube regarding bashed and TesEdit Merged patches.

  • Start the game.
  • Choose your settings in the MCM and select "Build Leveled Lists" - Build oonly needs to be done for container settings.
  • Existng games - I believe items will not appear for you in areas you have already visited until a cell reset has occurred.

 

 

For modders:
DDs added by this mod have the "EDD_Buff" keyword added to aid dependency free detection.

 

Possible future additions:
Debuff enchanted DDs - Same enchantments with opposite magnitudes. Mostly for other mods to use. Adds the possibility for other mods to replace an already equipped positive buff device with a negative debuff device as punishment.
Add loot to lesser containers (burial urns etc) to bait DCL suckers?
Add loot to bandits and the like.
Player enchantable devices.

 

Concerns:

  • Balance - Some consideration has been given to overall game balance but it may still be way out of whack. But now, you can adjust how powerful enchantments are with the MCM.
  • Containers - As mentioned above, Leveled list contents are added directly to the base game containers. I'm not entirely happy with this.
  • Slot Lock Out - As of right now there are very few 'good' DDs and other mods treat equipped DDs as such. Thus, there's nothing stopping you from blocking DCLs or other mods from equipping 'bad' DDs with EDD. Hopefully we'll find a way to make you feel less secure :P
  • Prices - Have been adjust to reflect the added usefulness of EDDs (Base enchantment value x %20). Base ebonite DD values are still to high for my tastes but not much I can do about that.
  • Contradictory item/enchantment combinations. Boots of stamina. Gag of super duper haggling. Shock piercings of shock resistance. Blindfolds of Archery. Yokes of fortify carry weight. I'm not hugely concerned about this right now (hey, it's magic) but some of them are funny.
